ASTM A513 Type 5 designates electric-resistance-welded (ERW) carbon steel tubing that undergoes a Drawn-Over-Mandrel (DOM) process. This cold-drawing ensures close control of dimensions—tight outside/inside diameter and wall thickness tolerances—uniform concentricity, dense surfaces, and predictable mechanical strength. It’s widely used for precision mechanical parts including hydraulic cylinders, shafts, roll cages, and similar applications.
