In 1976, ISO of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) incorporated some general bearing steel numbers into the international standards, and divided the bearing steel into four categories: fully hardened bearing steel, surface hardened bearing steel, stainless bearing steel, high temperature bearing steel and a total of 17 steel grades.
