ASME SA213 Grade T12 (UNS K11562) is a seamless chromium–molybdenum (Cr-Mo) low-alloy steel tube widely specified for boiler, superheater, and heat-exchanger service where elevated-temperature strength and pressure integrity are required. The ASME SA-213 specification is the Code adoption of ASTM A213/A213M for these seamless alloy-steel tubing applications.
Product form: Seamless tube with internal threading (typically threaded at tube ends for coupling/assembly).
Manufacturing route: Seamless, supplied hot-finished or cold-finished as specified.
Typical size range (commonly supplied under ASTM/ASME):
ID/OD range: from 1/8 in (3.2 mm) ID up to 5 in (127 mm) OD (project-dependent)
Wall thickness: 0.015–0.500 in (0.38–12.7 mm)
Threading (customizable):
NPT taper internal thread to ASME B1.20.1 (common for pressure-tight threaded joints) with Go/No-Go gaging available upon request.
Other thread forms (e.g., BSPT/ISO) can be supplied if specified in the PO.
Heat treatment (typical supply conditions, per grade and order): full or isothermal anneal; normalizing & tempering; or subcritical anneal (commonly referenced for SA213 tubing supply).
Inspection & testing (typical for tubing supply): chemical analysis, tensile and hardness tests, and dimensional/surface inspection; additional NDT can be specified (e.g., eddy current/UT/hydro).
Further processing options: U-bend, finning, or other heat-exchanger tube fabrication can be supplied to drawing.
Cr-Mo low-alloy design supports stable performance in many elevated-temperature heat-transfer duties.
Seamless construction minimizes risk associated with weld seams in pressure service.
Internal thread configuration enables faster assembly/disassembly in maintenance-focused designs (when threaded joints are permitted by the design code).
Procurement-friendly compliance under ASME/ASTM frameworks with standard testing and marking practices.
“How do I prove this is real SA213 T12, fully traceable to a heat/lot?”
We provide heat/lot traceability with clear tube marking, full documentation packages (MTC), and optional positive material identification (PMI) and third-party inspection. For projects that reference general tubing requirements (marking/testing/inspection), we align supply to the applicable general requirements used alongside product specs.
“How do I reduce the risk of early heat-exchanger tube failures and unplanned shutdowns?”
Buyers commonly focus on surface condition, dimensional control, and NDT effectiveness because tube failures often originate from localized damage or corrosion mechanisms. We support enhanced inspection plans (eddy current/UT, surface checks, dimensional mapping) and help match grade/heat treatment to service conditions (temperature, medium, corrosion allowance) to mitigate common exchanger failure drivers.
“Will the internal threads seal reliably, and how do you control thread quality?”
Threaded joints fail most often from incorrect taper/engagement, poor gaging practice, or repeated make-up damage. We can machine threads to recognized thread standards (e.g., NPT per ASME B1.20.1), apply Go/No-Go gage inspection, and protect threads with caps and packaging to prevent transit damage—improving sealing reliability on site.
